Flea Market Treasure Hunting at Kane County Fairgrounds
'The Best in the Midwest or Anywhere,' this long-standing antique and collectible flea market is one of Chicagoland's most popular attractions. St. Charles, IL sits in the scenic heart of one of the largest metropolitan areas in America, drawing millions of treasures from collections spanning history and the globe. In fact, the market's motto is 'If it was made, you can find it at Kane.' Located in the Fairgrounds, the first weekend of every month (March-December) brings up to 1,000 dealers indoors and out, with free parking daily, and a country breakfast on Sundays.
Popular Vendors to Visit
Go to booth 29 in the Rabbit Building for some of the tastiest, most creative coffee blends you'll ever sip (like Baked Apple Pie!) at Java Plus Gourmet Coffee. Another wonderful vendor is The Frenchman's Wife, located in booths 43 and 44 of Expo West. Her artistic displays bear a keen eye for emerging trends, with vintage clothing and antique housewares hotter now than their heyday.
Advice for First-Timers
A proper day at the flea means starting early and staying late (noon-5pm Saturdays, 7am-4pm Sundays), because you never know what you're going to find or when. Other notes of advice include
Have a game plan, and look for what you want first.
Wear comfortable shoes for lots of walking!
Bring cash. It's better for bargaining, and not all vendors take plastic.
