ArtsFest ~ Arts All Over Town
St. Charles, IL - The St Charles Arts Council, in partnership with the St. Charles Park District, presents ArtsFest | St. Charles - ALL of the ARTS, ALL over TOWN - from Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 17. The event features terrific arts programming going on all over town.
This Week - Showcasing Sculpture in the Park and Fine Line Creative Arts Center
Sculpture in the Park
The 12th Annual Sculpture in the Park, the most notable event sponsored by the St. Charles Park Foundation, runs May through mid-October each year. The landscape of Mt. St. Mary Park presents a striking and engaging show against the backdrop of nature's seasonal beauty.
This event's purpose is to raise awareness of the sculptural arts and the beautiful parks in downtown St. Charles. The Foundation strives to provide striking sculptural works with substantial breadth and depth in both subject matter and media for audiences to discuss, think about and enjoy.
Fine Line Creative Arts Center
Fiber artist Marianne Williamson's show Light and Motion in Textiles will be in the Kavanagh Gallery. The reception is September 8 from 6 - 8 pm.
Fine Line offers The Bead Challenge, for the Beads of Courage Program. It's an open studio program for people who have some glass bead experience. No instruction will be given. Participants are asked to bring 5 beads to donate to the challenge, which is free. All supplies will be provided. Each participant will receive a free challenge t-shirt. The Beads of Courage Challenge supports Beads of Courage - an arts-in-medicine
program to improve the quality of life for children coping with serious illnesses, and their families, and clinicians.
The Dempsey Gallery will feature one of their Local Artist shows, going on throughout ArtsFest.
create.Friday. FL's popular intimate class format is back for a second year! Refreshments and supplies are included with the class fee - basket making will be featured for this session.
September 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Inaugural Sculpture on the Prairie exhibition features 11 sculptures located on the campus and prairie, through October 28.
