Shrek the Musical on the Mainstage Theater

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (March 11, 2019) - point2production, a division of Schaumburg On Stage, is proud to present Shrek the Musical at the Mainstage Theater at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles March 22nd to 24th and March 29th to 31st. Having enjoyed great success as a premier youth and young adult theater company in the Northwest Suburbs for more than 20 years, Schaumburg On Stage expanded their programming to include community and professional family entertainment in the summer of 2017. After presenting several successful productions in Elgin, point2productions is now planning to take St. Charles by storm with its first production at Pheasant Run.

Featuring the music first popularized in DreamWorks animated movie favorite, Shrek the Musical, tells the tale of a "once upon a time and far, far away" sort of land and the hulking green ogre Shrek, who lives in an ugly green swamp in happy isolation. That is until a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters, led by the likes of Pinocchio, Cinderella and the Three Pigs, raid his sanctuary after being evicted from their own homes by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. Shrek agrees to help the fairy-tale creatures get their home back, but when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He'll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona from the Dragon's Tower. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing-something strange and different-about this pretty princess. He likes her. He likes her a lot, but why does she always run off when the sun sets?

Shrek the Musical is directed by award winning director, Jim Shedd and features of cast of talented professional and youth actors. Mitch Schaeflein, plays the not-so-lovable Shrek with Leah Davis as the determined and somewhat mysterious Princess Fiona. Ronnie Jurek plays the noble Donkey, Connor Murray appears as the diminutive Lord Farquaard, and Andreece Nikudinovski plays the fearsome Dragon. These fine actors are supported by a talented supporting cast including Nicholas O'Connell as Pinocchio and Mary Grace Martens as Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy. Additional cast members include Luke Funk as Papa Ogre, Scott Kelley as King Harold, Carly Gurrieri as Queen Lillian, Jennifer Paulos as Mama Bear/Mama Ogre, Spencer Douglas as Peter Pan/Pied Piper and Haleigh Hutchison as the Ugly Duckling.  The Youth Ensemble features Carson Kelley, Sammy Menapace, Ava Coletta, Josiah Turner, Nick Rogacki, Angela Tomaso, Michele Gurrieri, and Logan Franklin.

The cast is supported by a creative staff featuring Kelly Fitzgerald as music director and Amanda Zgonina as choreographer. Scenic design is provided by David Geinosky, lighting design by Richard Keeley and sound design by Alec Kinastowski.
