Pheasant Run Executives Leads National Travel & Tourism Week Tour Highlighting Tourism's Economic Engine
St. Charles, Ill. - May 23, 2017 - The Pheasant Run Resort executive team embraced this year's theme for National Travel & Tourism Week, "Faces of Travel," and introduced numerous employees who care for guests of the iconic resort during a private afternoon tour and reception hosted Thursday, May 11th. St. Charles' Mayor Raymond Rogina and City Administrator Mark Koenen joined the group as new entertainment openings and improvements were unveiled.
"Our team took care in planning an exceptional tour to illustrate why and how tourism is the economic engine for jobs in St. Charles," says general manager France Langan. "I was proud to gather the prominent group of leaders and partners for this important event and to share the exciting things happening at Pheasant Run," he added.
The tour stopped in eight locations throughout the property, beginning with a welcome by Front Office Manager Lindsay Levinson in the lobby. Levinson shared how the ‘First Ten Minutes' of a guests stay sets the tone for an entire stay. Maria Esposito, accounts payable clerk, then greeted guests in the Library and shared the importance of ensuring vendors are paid quickly and efficiently before Regina Fausto, human resources coordinator and a 32-year property veteran, emphasized making the right hire positively impacts guests and the 257 property associates.
The group moved on to the Golf Shop where Jamie Nieto, PGA professional and golf operations manager, reported that the Pheasant Run Golf Course was listed by Suburban Living magazine as Best Public Course and highlighted the community impact achieved during 26 charity golf outings scheduled for the 2017 calendar, and reported he expects 24,000 rounds of golf this year.
Executive Chef Tiffany Tooker met guests in the Clubhouse Lounge to introduce the importance of locally-sourced produce and discussed her own garden that will supplement fresh ingredients used in Harvest Restaurant's ‘farm to table' fare. Moving from healthy food to wellness, guests then met Lori Vargas, MBA and founder of Spa Vargas Wellness, whose business focuses on wellness and special massages for runners, bikers & triathletes.
Inside the Mega Center, Margy Moore, director of convention services, reported Pheasant Run's venue hosts over 250,000 visitors each year, resulting in additional revenue generated from the large groups using restaurants, other hotels and businesses in the community. The community's iconic Arcada Theatre and Onesti Entertainment, represented by Gabby Fink, marketing manager, released new acts scheduled for the Pheasant Run Amphitheater including Aladdin in June 2017 and Hairspray in August 2017 and spoke of expanding entertainment options in St. Charles during the year.
The Bourbon Street entertainment area of Pheasant Run is buzzing with excitement. A brand new iPanic Escape Rooms venue opened May 11th and representatives told guests that with only one hour on the clock, players must work together to find clues, solve puzzles in order to solve the mission before time runs out. This activity is great for families with children 13 and over, or team building. In addition, a new Pop Up Gallery along Bourbon Street was introduced which currently houses the St. Charles Arts Council's exhibit.
Longevity is represented by business and area families. Zanies, a comedy showroom that has been open at Pheasant Run Resort for 27 years. The nations' biggest comedians including Gilbert Gottfried, Drew Carey, Emo Philips, Joel McHale, Tommy Chong, and more offer additional reasons to visit St. Charles. Meanwhile, the property has hosted weddings for 54 years and the catering team reported the average size of the wedding events is 200 guests. It is estimated that 2,700 couples have hosted weddings and 540,000 guests at Pheasant Run during the history.
Adriana Reyna, a banquet cook, spoke of the work her team does in cold prep and what really goes into preparing for the extravagant Mother's Day Brunch planned for the following weekend.
To conclude the tour, Vikki Myers, destination marketing manager for the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau applauded the partnership with Pheasant Run and the resulting visitors drawn to St. Charles because of the resort. The group toasted the "Faces of Travel" at a Zydeco Jack's reception where guests enjoyed fare from Jambalaya's new menu and Felipe (named for one of the resort's long-time employees), the pheasant mascot of Pheasant Run Resort, made his guest appearance to cap off the celebration.
